Quote reblogged from life as i know it... with 2 notes

You are not the exception. In fact, you’re the rule. And the rule is, if the guy doesn’t call you, he doesn’t want to call you. Look, I know what blowing off women looks like. I do it early, I do it often. Trust me when I say, if a guy is treating you like he doesn’t give a shit, he genuinely doesn’t give a shit. No exceptions.

Justin Long in He’s Just Not the Into You

Good advice that I didn’t follow for a very long time.

I should stop watching this movie. But it is trainwreck!

(via carolinek)

umm, not even kidding here, but this book seriously changed my life. i remember reading it and when i was done, it had felt like someone had taken a shovel and smacked me in the face. repeatedly. what a FUCKING revelation! he just. doesn’t. like. you. easy as THAT. it sounds so cliche to say, but keeping that little line in your head can honestly make life SO much easier. not having to make excuses up for guys when they don’t live up to your expectations (“but he’s shy!”) or when they fuck up (“he was just really, really, drunk”) feels so great. if he wants to make it happen HE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

take it from me.

we went to “havana, alma de cuba” tonight for dinner in the west village.
okay, soooo liiike, it was good. but it definitely wasn’t mindblowing. and okay, i’m spoiled - my dad’s cuban, so my mom knows how to make preeetttyyy mean cuban food. i grew up with white rice, black beans, and plantains that were to diiieee for.
but anyway, back to tonight. it was definitely solid cuban fare.
the good:
yuca fries
black beans
rice
tostones
maduros
the not so good:
the paella - we ordered the seafood paella, and honestly there was hardly any seafood in it. it was 80% rice, and rice that didn’t even taste like much. wouldn’t get again
tres leche de coco - was atrocious. i RARELY say this about any dessert. i really, really, really don’t think i have ever said a dessert was “bad”. it’s just not my style. generally speaking i will devour consume any dessert placed within a ten foot radius of my body. not kidding. but this was NOT good. tres leche is supposed to be ooey, gooey, soaking in condensed milk and so sweet it makes you gag (love it.) this was….dry, and didn’t taste like anything! i was actually blown away at how far they missed the mark on what a good tres leche should taste like.
overall, the place was good. would i go back again? i don’t know. i rarely crave cuban food when i’m here (i just wait till i go home so mom can make me the good stuff) but if i ever WAS in the mood, or someone i was with wanted some cuban food, this would be a solid choice.

a good saturday, indeed

today i slept in late and it fels SO GOOD. seriously, the best part about the weekends isn’t the free time, or seeing people, or any other shit…no. it’s SLEEPING IN.

anyway, went to yoga and did a longer than normal class. it was hard, but the instructor was great and gave me a lot of attention…coming around to fix me and give me advice, which i always really appreciate. i never know i’m doing my poses wrong, and only when somone comes around to tell me, am i able to fix it and never do it wrong again. thank you, joe.

met mom, dad and co in west village, we did highline, then had dinner at a cuban place in the west village. i ate so much i wanted to die, and now i’m home.

good saturday!

met mom, dad and company in the west village this afternoon. we meandered out way around the village and ended up at the highline.
here’s the view of 14th street.
